How to use the grade calculator
- Find the grading breakdown in your syllabus (for example: homework 20%, quizzes 15%, midterm 25%, final 40%).
- Enter your score for each category as a percentage, along with its weight.
- Your current grade appears instantly. Leave out categories you have not been graded on yet.
How weighted grades work
Each score is multiplied by its weight, the results are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of the weights you have entered so far.
Example: 92% homework (20%), 85% quizzes (15%) and 78% midterm (25%) → (92×20 + 85×15 + 78×25) ÷ 60 = 84.4% (B).
Letter grade scale
A+ 97–100, A 93–96, A- 90–92, B+ 87–89, B 83–86, B- 80–82, C+ 77–79, C 73–76, C- 70–72, D+ 67–69, D 63–66, D- 60–62, F below 60. Your teacher's cutoffs may be slightly different.
Frequently asked questions
What if my weights do not add up to 100%?
That is fine while the term is still going: the calculator shows your grade based on the work graded so far. Once everything is graded, the weights should total 100%.
My class uses points, not percentages. What do I do?
Divide the points you earned by the points possible and multiply by 100 to get a percentage. Then enter it with the category weight.
